Silly boy, you've forgotten that all we offer here is lip service
Did you get enough of that last night?
It might be all the same to you on the surface
but I assure you its all very different inside
Her boyfriend's gone, you dont have to feel bad
but there's still remorse the next day
And you wish she didnt have to sleep alone
but it never matters what you say
This is college remember, no emotions just books
Here, we only offer the physical part
So just smile at take your medicine
It helps your reputation, but kills your heart.

"Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of cancer"

That has been spraypainted on a wall next to the alumni center for weeks now. I have heard several interpretations of it. My own interpretation is that it is a statement about higher education. It criticizes the wreckless desire for knowlege that in many cases will never be applied. Someone who failed out of school probably wrote it.

Others have told me that because it is right next to the business school, that it is a statement about corporate growth and neo-colonialism. I could see that.

Also, people think it might be about the University's seemingly endless mission of expansion and construction. Under current plans, the University will be under some form of construction for approximately the next 30 years.

Well, regardless of those theories, it is maybe my new favorite quote.

My bathroom smells like somebody crapped a dead animal and left it in there. Breese and I are sure that it was one of our suitemates. I hope the cleaning lady comes soon.

I had something to say about the Royal Tenenbaums, which I am watching at this moment, but now I can't remember. It's great though. I'll say that.

I can't watch TV anymore, unless its either a) MTVU or b) something educational. Seriously, if its not music or if I'm not learning from it, I can't deal with it. Sometimes I'll make an exception for football. Thats pretty much it though. I love love love TLC, The History Channel, Discovery, and the Travel channel. I even watch the french channel sometimes, because they have things in english with french subtitles. They had a Norman Mailer 2 hour interview about 20th century America. It was seriously awesome. And, I sort of learned some french from it, so double points there.

My roommate is on the phone with his bookie in Philly right now. He just threw down bets on 4 college games, and he's putting $75 ont he Minnesota Vikings game on sunday. The kid gambles nearly every night, but he's good at it so he's made alot of money so far. In total he has $150 on the line over the next few days. Insanity.

This photo ran on the front page today:

That combined with sportsshooter.com reopening for membership might be a catalyst for me to start shooting a whole lot more, which I am looking forward to.

"I need you so much closer..."

I keep playing that song but I have no one in mind at all for it to be directed to. I need anyone right now really. I need someone from texas, or someone who loves me, or both.

Today was one of the worst days of maybe my whole life. I'm drunk, and alone in a dorm room on a tuesday night; this really isnt ending up any better than it started. Everything was good here for two weeks, but now the bottom is starting to drop out from under me, and I want desperately to feel like I used to as a teenager. Invincible, safe, filled with love for almost everyone.

PS - Lizzie has deleted her blog, and when I discovered this tonight it drove the final nail in the coffin that is this awful day. I dont think she ever realized how great it was.
