You Are The Generation Who Bought More Shoes, And You Get What You Deserve

Eatmj.com was created by photographers who have been covering the Michael Jackson trial, and needed an easily accessible database of local restaraunts that can deliver to them at the courthouse, since they can't really leave incase Jackson overdoses, has a facial feature fall of, or calls for his pet monkey to keep him company in the court room. I think thats a pretty amazing idea. Apparently lots of restaraunts are trying to get reviews on the site, so they can deliver food to the photogs, who I imagine are pretty reliable clients.

I've been thinking alot about my constant need to keep moving, and mostly how I dont ever think I'm going to stop. Once I get to Texas (whenever that will be) I can already tell that I'll be restless after a semester. I think that even living in Austin, my second favorite city in the world, I wouldnt be able to stay longer than 2 years without having some sort of freakout and hopping on a plane to Alaska, or Bhuddapest. I want to see everything, and I will not rest until I have.

You would kill for this, just a little bit

Reading my brothers blog made me spontaneously download and listen to a straylight run song. Dont tell anyone.

diagram of my life as of late:

wake up
make coffee
go to bathroom
toast poptart
drink coffee
eat poptart
read email
watch CNN
drink more coffee
shower
go to work
come home
make dinner
eat dinner
talk to kait
go to bed

so now you know, that my life is secretly boring, and that is the reason that I dont write blogs.

Let Me Get My Hands On Your Mammary Glands

I replied to Pete this afternoon with the following:

Hi Pete, it's good to hear from you. Why did you send me cheat codes for that video game? I missed what you were trying to say I think. Anyways, keep sending me email, let me know how you're doing. It'd be cool to keep in touch.

We'll see if he keeps emailing me I guess.

It's supposed to snow here on Saturday. I'm so fucking pissed!

Ok, so

I orginially named this blog "A Conversation With A Homeless Person" after having an amusing conversation with a person who was (probably still is) in fact homeless.

In boston I had a very long, very confusing conversation with a homeless person named Pete Pedian in a Starbucks in Harvard Square. At the end, I gave him my website address, so he could see my work (he requested it). He's started emailing me now, and I've decided to "go back to my roots" by posting our email dialogues here.

I should mention that though Pete was very well spoken in real life, it seems that he learned to type from a 10 year old on AOL Instant Messenger. Though I think some of it is due to some strange email formatting, his typing is Very hard to read. In this first email, so far as I can tell, he's explaining his trouble finding my email address on chrishires.com and then goes on to recomend books that he has found in the Library. When I figure out what I'm going to write back, I'll post that here also. Anyways, here is the first one:

So after reviewing the web site he linked to, it's a link to a list of cheat codes for the playstation game Dino Crisis. I have no idea why he would send me this. But I really really hope this keeps up.

Some things that have happened to me over the last two days:

- saw Abraham Lincoln's ghost in the Detroit airport
- Had a 1.5 hour conversation with a homeless man about publicly accessible media in a Starbucks in Harvard Square.
- Gave said homeless man my web/email address
- Went to a hipster dance party in Alston (?) with Christine
- Witnessed the attempted hi-jacking of a tow truck by 8 hipsters (I think they may have been serious)
- Nearly wept at the sight of James Nachtwey
- Nearly wept realizing that before me were the 9 best photographers on the planet
- Tried to go to a Redsox game
- Saw Adam Groffman on a street corner
- Hung out with drunk Redsox fans in the most crowded Subway car ever experienced by men
- Was thrown up on by a drunk Pakistani man on the Orange line

The CN Tower Belongs To The Dead

I am obsessed with music!

After waking up in a panic today thinking I was late for work, only to remember a moment later that it is Sunday, I've been downloading and reading pitchfork nonstop.

I'm very close to buying a couple turntables and a mixer, and plunging head first into being a DJ. "oh yeah, that's cool," you might say as you roll your eyes. Well, cram it. I like dancing, and I have flawless taste in music. Deep down I think you realize that I could rock a house party at the drop of a hat (and I'll beat em all down with an aluminum bat).

So exciting new sounds produced by this morning's coffee induced musical fury:

Jüstus Kohncke - Timecode ***
Jürgen Paape - So Weit Wie Noch Nie (radio edit) ****
Bloc Party - This Modern Love (Dave P and Adam Sparkles Making Time Remix) ** (I still have yet to hear a Bloc Party remix that is better and dancier than the original track. Maybe I should do one)
Final Fantassy - The CN Tower Belongs To The Dead ****
Antony and the Johnsons - For Now I Am A Boy ****
The Rocket Summer - Around The Clock ***** (so good!)
Johnny Boy - You Are The Generation Who Bought More Shoes And You Get What You Deserve **************** (fucking incredible)

A call to arms, of sorts

Hey blog reader in Highland Park, Illinois, whats up? Thats right, I've got my eye on you. That goes for all the rest of you too. I can't for the life of me think of who I know who might live in Highland Park, Illinois, or even Highland Park, Texas for that matter. So step out from the shaddows and into the light! If all the lurkers start participating, we could have a party to celebrate your arrival. It will have the loudest music you've ever heard, and drugs! Oh, the drugs! You will wake up as a different person, I can assure you.

...this post was really stupid.

Hate or love it, the underdog's on top

Last night Scott and I went to see Bloc Party. We drove all the way down to Detroit, and pulled up to the club and there are signs everywhere that say "Sold Out." So we are thinking we are fucked until we start talking to the guy working the door. There were two doors, one where you get carded and then another upstairs where they take your ticket. The guy upstairs sent us down to this dude with really long hair at the 1st door. He says to just wait a few minutes. Then he takes us in the bathroom, and says "ok, its going to be 20 for each of you." It was so weird. I felt like I should be buying coke or something. But so we pay him in the bathroom and then he takes us upstairs and we get stamped and all that stuff.

Bloc Party was pretty good. They are certainly very charming. I wanted to take the singer home with me, where he could drink tea all day and tell me stories about how things in London are different from things in America.

After the show "Hate it or Love it" by 50 Cent was playing, but I was like "shit, this sounds really really good." So I finally track down the soundguy and I'm asking if its a remix or something, because it sounds really different. And he's like "no, this is the album track. It's the best song on the radio right now!" The sound guy tried to imply that he's hipper than me! I know its on the fucking radio, dont tell me about hip hop asshole. Turns out that the song sucks until you hear it on a system capable of kicking some serious bass at you. Now i have to deal with the fact that I actually like a song that's been made by 50 Cent.
