Jawns and Gentlemen

Holy shit, it's so fucking cold in my apartment right now. Jesus.

My brother's current away message: "My old man always said that hell would have no flames, just a front row seat to watch your true love pack her things and go away." (Where does he get this stuff?)

Things that have happened yesterday and today:

- Woke up feeling sick, decided I was in the process of becoming sick
- I left my windows open during a massive rainstorm
- Walked out of my bio lecture, and ran home to make sure that my apartment didn't look like some New Orleans type shit
- (My apartment was fine).
- Went to my sociology class
- Discovered that we were only watching a movie in sociology
- Left sociology
- Ate a burrito, and took a nap
- Woke up, went to set up the Kingdom Flying Club after party
- Went to the Artisan to try and stay awake and kill time until the show
- Decided at this point, I was officially sick
- Saw Joe Winters, and Lauren Veach
- Read the New York Times, and Can't Stop, Won't Stop
- Talked with Joel and Brent (?) about models, specifically models who do coke (mostly we talked about kait moss).
- Talked with Lauren about Project Runway, and the upcoming Project Jay
- Read some more
- Went to the Kingdom Flying Club show, thought I might die
- Went to the after party, took some advil and stepped behind the decks
- Spun discs for about 2 hours, to a great crowd (larger than you would think, for 2am on a Wednesday).
- Made $50
- Got hit on, alot
- Realized that I had no idea where my keys were
- Called Jay Kirby, had him drive my to Caitlin's, because I thought my keys were in her car
- Got to her house, and heard what sounded like hell coming out of a television set
- I turned out that she was watching Independence Day really loud
- My keys were not in her car
- Wound up crashing at Caitlin's on the futon
- Woke up and went to the Artisan, to see if I had left them there (I didn't).
- Walked back to Amberly's, where the party was
- Saw that my car had been moved, which required keys
- Amberly's roommate found my keys on the porch, helped me pack my shit
- Finally got home at 11am.

How Well Can You Dance With A Drink In Your Hands?

How well can you fuck when you're down on you're luck?

Sometimes I'm afraid to find out.

Please Don't Leave Me Alone With My Head

Today on the way to class, my iPod died. When I removed my headphones, this was heard in passing:

Sorority Girl 1: But seriously, who gets raped in the ass and then is ok with it two days later?
Sorority Girl 2: No, he got raped in the ass two months ago.
Sorority Girl 1: Oh, alright.

Cancer Panda Records

So who wants to start up an Indie Fantasy League? This would be the perfect application for all the hours I spend keeping up on bands. Now, when people ask me if any of that indie trivia has come in handy, I'll just say "yeah, my fantasy label is totally kicking ass right now." So if you want to join up, IM me. I got dibs on the Juan Maclean.

It's So Appropriate, The Way We Amplify The Sound

I don't really have much, here are some tidbits:

Though the weather is divine, I really hate today.

My brother's current away message: "Don't you want to get away? Surrender to the allure of Catcher In The Rye."

Also, I'm a bit hungry.

And now, for your ears:

Broken Social Scene - Lover's Spit (Bee Hives version, featuring Feist)
This one was on The L Word on Monday night (I'm officially addicted to Showtime), and has proved itself vastly superior to the version that appears on You Forgot It In People.

Jon Brion - Knock Yourself Out
Like every good little Pitchfork addict, I've been spending the last week and a half searching out all of the Jon Brion tracks from last week's feature, The Cinematic Treatment. This is one of many great tracks that they listed.

Bloc Party - So Here We Are (Fourtet Remix)
I was a bit disappointed/relieved to find that I already own all the best tracks from Silent Alarm Remixed on vinyl. This one could be the only outstanding one that I have yet to track down as a B-Side on wax. Fourtet is so fucking spazzy, I love it.

Let's Move To The Desert

I'm not a particularly soap-boxy blogger, so I won't really say alot about all of this Hurricane stuff. Still, everyone who works for the government that has been perpetuating this debacle should have to watch this (Exerpt from Meet The Press, MichaelMoore.com, via Devil In The Details). so that it may weigh upon their conscience for the rest of their lives. Still, for those of you who might have lost faith in Americans or human beings, something should be said for the volunteers who are giving aid to all of these victims. On Saturday I walked into an entire parking garage filled with clothing, food, water, etc. There were nearly as many volunteers as there were refugees, and everyone I talked to was so gracious to the volunteers and the entire city of Dallas for the seemingly endless amount of support its citizens have been showing for them. Three days later, I still feel good about being there and seeing it.

In other news, the white party went well. Lot's of shit got stolen, including my 50 Cent record (the cops caught him leaving the party, and brought it back to me). A blacklight from the banannas house was stolen, as was the tap for the keg. Someone took a shit in Alex's bathtub, and I guess that's how you know it was a good party. We're looking to do it again in the future, so stay tuned for exciting announcements.
