Hate or love it, the underdog's on top
Last night Scott and I went to see Bloc Party. We drove all the way down to Detroit, and pulled up to the club and there are signs everywhere that say "Sold Out." So we are thinking we are fucked until we start talking to the guy working the door. There were two doors, one where you get carded and then another upstairs where they take your ticket. The guy upstairs sent us down to this dude with really long hair at the 1st door. He says to just wait a few minutes. Then he takes us in the bathroom, and says "ok, its going to be 20 for each of you." It was so weird. I felt like I should be buying coke or something. But so we pay him in the bathroom and then he takes us upstairs and we get stamped and all that stuff.
Bloc Party was pretty good. They are certainly very charming. I wanted to take the singer home with me, where he could drink tea all day and tell me stories about how things in London are different from things in America.
After the show "Hate it or Love it" by 50 Cent was playing, but I was like "shit, this sounds really really good." So I finally track down the soundguy and I'm asking if its a remix or something, because it sounds really different. And he's like "no, this is the album track. It's the best song on the radio right now!" The sound guy tried to imply that he's hipper than me! I know its on the fucking radio, dont tell me about hip hop asshole. Turns out that the song sucks until you hear it on a system capable of kicking some serious bass at you. Now i have to deal with the fact that I actually like a song that's been made by 50 Cent.
