I. Last Weekend
A. Friday
• Drove to Chicago
01. My iPod was stolen from my car when I was in Texas, so I had no music
02. There was a snowstorm in central Illinois
⇒ These two combined to make the drive miserable
• Went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant with Angie and Tyler, an amazingly cheesy two-person salsa band set up and played while we were there.
• Took the bus to the Viaduct Theater, for the first night of the Pitchfork 10.0 party.
01. Met with Aaron and Rosemary there.
02. The Books set up and played
⇒ The Books’ set was the second best thing I’ve seen live all year. Aaron and I kept looking at each other and saying “holy shit.”
⇒ They are adorable, I want to take them home with me.
03. Jason Forrest made a cameo appearance, and DJed while Diplo set up.
04. Diplo played.
⇒ His set was not quite as good as it was at Intonation, but still amazing.
⇒ When he played MIA into “Stay Fly” I literally fell on the floor.
⇒ MIA was there, just hanging out and dancing with her clique.
⇒ There was a Laffy Taffy Dance Contest.
i. This was followed by a Dem Franchise Boyz dance contest.
⇒ The soundman finally pulled him off stage at about 2am.
• Rosemary drove me back to Tyler’s apartment, where I was staying.
• I rang the bell, but no one answered.
01. After about 30 minutes of this, I decided to just sleep in my car.
• I curled up in my backseat and went to sleep.
B. Saturday
• Woke up at around 10 am.
• Rang the bell, this time there was an answer and I went upstairs and collapsed on the couch.
• Took a shower
• Went with Angie and Tyler to a Mexican café that I don’t remember the name of.
01. We just called it Mexican Waffle House.
• Went shopping in the Wicker Park area.
01. Went to Reckless records, picked up a few LPs.
02. Went to American Apparel
03. Went to Quimby’s where I got really freaked out by the erotic comic books.
⇒ They were weird.
⇒ Angie bought emo boy porn.
04. Went to Starbucks
⇒ I needed to recharge my batteries
05. Went to a shoe store and looked at “ho shoes.”
06. Went to Penelope
⇒ The cutest girl in the entire world works there
i. Her voice is really high pitched, and she’s really peppy.
ii. I don’t think I would mind.
• Ate dinner in Logan square
• Went back to Tyler’s to pre-drink
01. Started out with Steel Reserve 22 oz’s.
⇒ This set a good fast pace for the evening
• Finally made it to the Empty Bottle…
01. …just in time to see Spankrock do his last song.
⇒ I’m still pissed about this.
02. Did the whole count down thing
03. The Juan Maclean came out and played
⇒ Juan Maclean looks just like Bruce Willis.
04. Hollered at this jawn named Erin next to me.
⇒ She decided she wasn’t up for leaving her friends in order to attend the after party with us.
05. Inadvertently hollered at Jessica Hopper, who was spinning tracks in the back of the room.
⇒ I didn’t know it was her at first.
⇒ She was super super nice
i. And super super adorable
⇒ Her friends took pictures of us
⇒ Aaron and I won her heart
i. She blogged about us
• We were driven back to the Wicker Park area by a jawn who’s name I don’t remember.
01. We walked around looking for the Spankrock after party
02. It didn’t exist
⇒ Or at least it wasn’t there.
• We walked aaaaalll the way back to where the show was, and found the party that Angie, Tyler and the other CoMO kids were at.
01. Angie and I talked about people we’ve had sex with
02. Tyler stole a bunch of shit
• We walked aaaaaaalll the way back to wicker park and took a train back to Logan Square, and then went to get burritos.
01. Tyler fell asleep while his food was being prepared.
02. We left EVERYONE text messages/voice messages exclaiming “Dicks in 2K6”
• We ate and walked back to the apartment
• I passed out on the couch
C. Sunday
• Woke up
01. Jeremiah et. al. Discussed the movie Face Off (and it’s potential sequels) for an hour and a half.
• We all got dressed and went to go eat at this Thai buffet.
01. We got to sit on the floor, and the food was amazing.
• Walked back to the car, said our goodbyes, and Angie and I left for CoMO
• Arrived back in town at around 10pm.
