Sometimes I wonder if I will ever lose the friends I have. In generations before us, people who were friends in high school routinely lost touch with each other. That is partly why there are high school reunions. But now we live in such a different time. The internet has set our generation apart from that of our parents in many ways, but more than anything it has made communication so much easier. I live in missouri, but I still talk to Leslie, Lizzie, Kerry and other friends in Texas, Erin in Illinois, and other people who are all over the world. So it really seems impossible that we could ever fall out of touch. But will the breakdowns in communication continue to exist? Where will I be after college? Where will my friends be? Who will be our new friends? No matter the answer to all of these questions it is still easy to imagine a quick "hey" IM from time to time, or a friendly email that waits in your inbox every couple months. I have a hard time imagining that we will fall out of touch, but I still have an overwhelming feeling that it will happen anyway.
