Good Company, Brooklyn NY
Last week, one of the two CMJ events I attended was a showcase thrown by the good folks at Group Tightener and Acephale Records, which featured several bands I’ve been into recently. Porcelain Raft wasn’t really on my radar before the show, but he sure as hell is now. “Tip Of Your Tongue” is just a damn catchy pop song, the kind that you actually don’t mind having stuck in your head. His whole set was captivating, but this one was clearly the stand out. It’ll be released officially on Acephale on 11/8, so rungogetdat if you’re the type of person who likes owning quality music.
Sorry about the absence, things have been hectic but I’m finally finding time to dive into new music again. CFCF has been a favorite of mine for over a year now, and his latest EP for RVNG is nothing short of wonderful. It’s amazing how far his production has come since Continent. The River is filled with lush, complicated arrangements and has become my favorite soundtrack for this transition from summer to autumn. The opening track is below, but you need the whole album, it’s a real treat.
