Flight Of The Concords

This is a new show on HBO about two musicians from New Zeland. In real life, the two guys are singing comedians, which would normally cause most people to wince but this time it's the real deal. Their show is seriously funny, as evidenced by this song from the first episode:

Set your tivos kids.

That The Maneater Fix It's God Damned Website Already

Let's be honest, The Maneater has never been very good. It was always a huge joke when compared to other college papers, especially considering that this was Missouri's paper and should have been like the New York Times of college papers. Even when I worked there, we kind of sucked. But we were still a hell of a lot better than these jokers now. I don't want to read about whatever boring shit is happening in Columbia, MO right now, however I do occaisionally like to go back and look at old assignments I shot for them. In order to do this, I need to access their website (something that every single media outlet should have at this point, no matter if it's Time or a junior high school yearbook). Too bad the thing has been shut down since class got out. Way to go dudes. Put down your bong and get back to work.

DJ Lobsterdust - Baby Arrow

Download Here

Yes, I know, it has to be the worst DJ name ever (DJ Crabfeast, anyone?). And his earlier stuff had pitchfork going nuts, even though it was super pedestrian and really not at all creative. However, Lobsterdust kind of cranks up the creative dial on this one, mashing up Marvin Gaye and Mary Wells' "Whats the Matter With You, Baby?" with the Album Leaf's "Broken Arrow." It sounds amazing. He even added a little bit of "Sing" by the Carpenters in there, but it's subtle, meant for the headphone listeners. Perfect for a solo cab ride home at 4am on a Saturday night.

The So Far Unnamed New Spankrock EP, Also Their New Fabric Mix

Because I drunkenly agreed to do this a while back, and because while I've only heard snippets of it, it's sure to be fantastic. I'm told that it's coming out soon-ish, so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, go pick up Spankrock's DJ mix for the FabricLive series. It's seriously good. Like, it's one of those where everyone will tell you that it's amazing and then you'll listen to it on a plane from New York to Dallas and you'll say "Oh SHIT, they were not even kidding."

That Marc Fixes The Internet At My New Apartment

...you know, so that regular blogging may resume. I can't really upload mp3s from work, and those are the things that I recommend the most. Let's be real here, mp3s, whether it is listening to them, acquiring them, organizing them or thinking about them, take up 85% of my day. The other 15% is sleep.

Lessons In Virtual Tour Photography by Chris Bachelder

Lessons in Virtual Tour Photography

This electronic book (ebook, if you will) came out a couple years ago and I just randomly thought of it this morning while pretending to be working. Bachelder basically wrote a novel (I believe the story is autobiographical) in the form of an instruction manual. Thus, all of the statements in the book are in the form of commands. Weird at first, but fun after some adjustment. Have you ever read an ebook before? It's tough to get used to it. When this came out I decided I hated reading it in PDF format, so I printed all two hundred and something pages out on the printer at The Maneater's office. My boss got really mad at me for doing that.
